Our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the greatest human being of all time. He never lied in life, never oppressed anyone, never harmed anyone except for good, he was a great man full of human qualities. However, many people in the Arab society of that time did not recognize him even though they came in direct contact with him. Rather, they lied to him whenever they got the chance; They did not even hesitate to torture him.
He was rejected by the people of Taif while preaching in Taif and was brutally tortured on the way back. The people of Taif did not stop throwing stones even after repeatedly fainting in the blood-soaked body. When the angel of the mountain himself became angry and asked permission to throw the people of Taif on the ground, the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not respond to the angel’s call but forgave them. At the same time, he prayed to Allah, the Most Merciful, for the guidance of the people of Taif.
Where many people did not recognize the Prophet (peace be upon him) even after getting close to him; it is natural for sinful people like us to be misunderstood.
Whenever I remember this incident, I feel absolute peace in my mind. Where many people did not recognize the Prophet (peace be upon him) even after getting close to him; it is natural for sinful people like us to be misunderstood. But, I believe, there is nothing greater than patience and forgiveness.
So if someone hurts you or slanders you, let us not be angry but forgive him and pray to Allah, the Most Merciful, for his guidance. Violence brings violence, forgiveness brings peace.
May Allah guide us all, Ameen.
